The liquid engine component.
Every component of your Porsche is specifically engineered and carefully designed to deliver maximum performance. The engine oil is no exception. A true high-performance oil does far more than simply lubricate your Porsche’s engine. It plays a vital role in optimizing performance and reliability and ensuring a long engine life. That’s why it’s so important to choose an engine oil tailored to your Porsche, and to change it regularly according to the service schedule. Only then can you be sure it always retains the properties which make it – and your Porsche – perform.
What oil does Porsche use?
More than 60 years of motorsports racing extremes has shown us that Mobil 1 is the optimum oil for Porsche engines, on the track and the road. Mobil 1 is used in all our racing engines and in every Porsche that leaves our factory.
Tasks performed by engine oil.
Task 1: Lubricates
Forms a permanent file to reduce friction between moving surfaces in the engine, providing protection against wear, extending the engine’s life.
Task 2: Cleans
Protects engine parts with a special additive that absorbs impurities in the oil, protecting the engine from harmful deposits.
Task 3: Neutralizes
Neutralizes acids formed by combustion gases and unburnt fuel in the oil, thereby preventing corrosion.
Task 4: Cools
Dissipates heat. Cooling parts of the engine not reached by the coolant.
How often should I change my oil?
Porsche recommends that vehicles receive an oil change every 10,000 miles or approximately once per year. However, timing depends on a few factors such as how often you drive your vehicle and how it is driven. Refer to your owner’s manual for more information or contact one our trained service advisors to discuss your vehicle’s specific needs.
